Being Bravo

So one of these days I was just walking around in my college campus, perhaps bunking my Engineering Graphics class, the subject’s such a waste of time, I mean what’s the point of teaching E.G to I.T undergraduates. I remember carrying my bag around as usual, it’s a yellow ADIDAS fakie, looks so original people complement. I was heading back to my hostel and the skies turned gray, next thing I knew I was running for cover but then it struck, I had an umbrella inside my bag. So I took it out and pointed towards heaven, “Even I have weapons!!”, but I guess the angels took offence, and by the time I was holding my umbrella upright I was all drenched in heaven’s fury.

Still I ran for the shades, not that am opposed to the rain but there were my all so precious E.G sheets with me and if they got spoilt, that would break my heart not to mention the possibility of flunking the semester would plummet and trust me I was in no mood to redo E.G. Lost in my thoughts I was trodding along the pathway, by the time I neared my hostel the rain was over, seems like heaven’s sole intent was to drench me bad. Though in the next few moments the angels made it clear that they are always there to help, I was tryna close my umbrella, since I was under a shade I ran a hand back and jerked the handle a bit, but it wouldn’t come down, I pulled a bit more and I thought I heard a squeal, and then I turned only to see the weirdest of things, my umbrella was stuck in some girl’s hair and she was trying her best to untangle it all. I stood their looking, my hand horizontal, supporting the umbrella while she helped her pleading hair. As soon as she got herself free, she looked up at me, inside I was like “WAOW, what a beauty!!”, I muttered an apology, still gazing into those eyes and I guess I detected a hint of glee, dunno why, but am sure she was amused by the situation. She just looked back and said “It’s ok”, then… then what ??

Then I turned around and started walking towards my hostel, no more than a few steps later i saw something fall from my wrapped up umbrella, I knelt a bit, picked the thing up, it was a butterfly clutcher, purple in colour, intricate and then I realised “Fish, that must be hers”, and I ran back, took a turn to right and there she was heading back, I crossed her, came face to face and said “Here, I guess this is yours”, she looked back , only confused, her clutcher was in my other hand, “Ohh, sorry uhm, this is is yours I guess?”. By now she was smiling broadly, “Yea, that’s mine, thanks a lot, I would have really missed it”, she was sooo cute, her cheeks were all red, and her eyes twinkled, now that sounds cinematic but it was pretty much what I saw. She smiled again and I thought it was a cue, saying goodbye that is. But she said “Hi, I am Neha”, I gazed at her stupidly, and then something jolted, I just said “Oh, hi am Nishant ”, she nodded we shook hands, she asked what branch I was in and then we started talking. I walked her to the girls hostel, gosh how I wished the time to slow down, the rain to start again, so that may be we could take a shelter, eat some parle-g biscuits with hot tea, now wouldn’t that be awesome friends?

But the heavens didn’t pour, not this time, we reached her block and I said goodbye.

Another moment, am standing at my hostel gate, how is that possible?? I just wondered, a second ago I was heading back from Suu Kyi block, and then the realisation dawned, all this while I had been daydreaming, I shook my umbrella to see if there was by any chance a clutcher in there, no luck with that though. I sighed, she was still on my mind, her lovely face, her chirpy voice, though all she said was “It’s ok”, I could sense the melody.

I longed to see her again but that wasn't before a few weeks, you'll get to know what happened in my next post.
